Reminds me how little I understand about mental illness. I was out for a jog and grabbed sandwich (that's how I jog) and bought an extra sandwich for a homeless guy sitting outside. I sat down next him and we started chatting. I was shocked to learn he was a programmer, too, which surprised me because for some reason that seemed impossible to go from a well paying job to having nothing. He was on the level, too, asking me about the tech at my work and such. He shared a bit about what got him there, which sounded like alcoholism to losing his job to losing his brother's support to being on the street. He made it sound so simple. I asked him if he could see himself back programming and that's where he started to phase out again and start mumbling and be less coherent again. Stories like that guys and Lee's remind me I have no idea what other people are going through.
