I believe that we are at the cusp of something truly amazing. However, to achieve all that we can we must look beyond what is good for us this very moment. Yes, privacy is nice but transparency is better. Nobody likes paying taxes but a government that is not reliant on taxation is a government that will ignore the taxed public. Nobody wants that.
So, I propose a modest change to crypto currency. Every wallet (and by extension every transaction) will have a person (or a registered corporation) attached to it. We still have the block chain but we will get rid of anonymity completely. Is it possible? How do we accomplish it? In a decentralized system, I think it is not possible. I mean who guarantees that wallet abc...xyz belongs to person A? Maybe person A can hand over his private keys to person B? Maybe person B can steal person A's wallet? How do we guarantee authenticity? How do we guarantee that a transaction did not occur under duress?
Am I barking up the wrong tree here?
