I for one would love the option for all Android devices to have the option to (I mean opt-in, of course) use Google VPN all the time on any Android device (or at least on any Nexus or Pixel device). Carriers are preparing to vacuum up user data but users will only care if they have a solution that works "turn-key" and doesn't cost them anything. I think it is in Google's interest to not let ISPs like Verizon to do these shenanigans. I also believe that with Android being probably one of the the most used operating system in the world (by number of minutes spent each day across all users?) is in a unique position to deliver this. After all, no sane ISP will block access to Google and no sane web site will block users from coming through Google.
