Why is there a QWERTY keyboard instead of just a numeric keypad on the screen where the console expects me to enter a string of numbers? Wouldn't it be better to have just a numeric keypad?
Perhaps they have a good reason to do things this way. However, even if this was an oversight, the beauty of an onscreen keyboard is that they can probably enhance this experience with a system update.
